This chocolate brownie recipe is sure to become a seasonal favourite. Full of rich, chocolate flavour, not-too-sweet, and quick and easy to make.
While you can’t go wrong with chocolate brownies, the addition of our Hot Chocolate Porter adds a nice maltiness to the brownie. Try them warm, with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream (Try local favourites Common Good Ice Cream or Banter Ice Cream) on the side, or a Hot Chocolate Porter ice cream float.
1/2 cup Hot Chocolate Porter
10 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup flour
Preheat oven at 250 degrees F. Prepare a 9″ X 9″ baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
Microwave chocolate chips and butter in 15 second increments until melted.
Pour melted chocolate into a medium bowl and cool slightly. Add sugar, vanilla, salt and porter and mix well.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing just until combined before adding the next egg.
Fold flour into mixture and pour into baking pan.
Bake for one hour or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool in pan for 2 hours or overnight to firm up for best cutting.
Some other delicious options might be crushed candy canes (hello, Christmas brownies), chocolate chips, chopped peanut butter cups, chopped nuts, or powdered sugar after baking. You could even use your favourite icing recipe! The options are quite limitless with your creativity!
